Westport Cos had an advantageous start to the season with two consecutive home games. The rest of the league were keen to know how their team would travel and this weekend they made the trip all the way to Hokitika to play Westland United. Westland United probably had the better of the first half but couldn’t capitalise in front of goal and even missed a penalty. Westport, despite the slow start, really kicked into gear in the second half, scoring 5 goals to add to their 1 in the first half, to earn their second 6-1 win in two games. Dan Maloney maintained his 100% scoring record for the season, with another two goals, taking his overall tally to 6. Kane Marshall, Riley Simpson and Grant Smith all scored from open play with Josh Roche scoring a penalty. Jeremy Green scored the consolation goal for Westland United.
