After last weeks drama in the knock-out cup, Westport Cos once again made the trip down to play Paroa. This time round there was no shortage of goals, but it was Paroa who dominated the scoring this time. Westport, however, were the first to score after a push on Michael Suleman in the Paroa box resulted in a penalty. Josh Roche stepped up to convert, scoring his fourth of the season. Paroa’s leveller came after a rushed clearance was kicked high into the air, the ball caught the wind and looped back to keeper Atila Oliveira whose clearance then ended up in the Westport goal. Anton Merkushev, after last week’s hattrick, failed to get on the score sheet after his free kick hit the crossbar. Paroa got themselves a healthy lead after two Clint Blanch goals in the space of five minutes made it 3-1. Westport were unable to create many chances, and this continued into the second half. Martin McDonald made it four with a long range left footed shot that found the corner of the net. It later became 5 after Judah Wate gathered the ball near the halfway line, made a run all the way into the Westport box to calmly score. The game finished 5-1 to Paroa.
